Garage Cabinets, Garage Storage, and Garage Organization

I am looking to upgrade the wheels on my 94 S500 but I can't figure out this offset thing.  My current wheels are the stock 8 hole alloy wheels....16".  I was thinking of getting the same wheel on ebay but with chrome plating.....I can find several that look identical...but the specs all show different offsets.  How can I tell what my offset is now...and how much can that number change on the new wheels.   I would like a little wider stance if that is possible.

If 16" wheel has 46~51mm offset, you are okay.  Wider stance means wider tires, which also mean larger wheels (18" or larger).
