Post contaminated Fuel in 1994 SEL 500 

Can anyone help please? I've got a 1994 Mercedes sel 500, to cut a long story short my son topped up the fuel from a petrol can, which we now think was contaminated as the car coughed out after about 20 feet distance. Now its turning over and just won't fire up. Its got half a tank of fuel in. My thoughts are that I need to drain the tank, does any member know of the quickest/easiest way of doing this please?
