Diagnostic fault code scanner

Just by telling me that the sensor kept working fine is a good indication that if it does not work, at least it does not ruin it...and that was my main concern on using it....

You mentioned that the codes you had were old? Was your check engine light on?  Normally the system has to detect the failure a couple times before it turns it on, but I have never seen codes in there without a check engine light. It may be that my scanner does not read the temporary errors.......what brand is your scanner?...

Mechefan,
Yes, the check engine light had been on for months.  Now that I think about this, I cleared the faults and they reappeared a couple of days later.  Then I cleaned the MAS and cleared the faults again, and the check engine light has not come on for over a week now.
The code reader is a Cen-Tech brand that I got at Harbour Freight Tools.  $130, but on sale for $65.  If anyone wants to  buy this one, the retail stores will insist it isn't on sale and you will have to show them their catelog (not their current flyer) to get this price.  You can also download a coupon from their web site that will show the sale price as $75.  If anyone needs help with this, let me know.

well, the reason I asked about the scanner is because the temporary codes I though your had read, but it turns out that they were not for what You said. Incidentally, I have bought mine at the same place for 39 plus tax, but it is the one that does not read the vin number....cheapest model....

I replaced my mas sensor since it was under warranty, but the error keeps coming back...mmm I wonder if there is an issue with my air filter and its letting anything thru...

I'm glad Your has been fixed....

Mechefan,

I finally got the A/C problem fixed.  It was a defective vent flap actuator (rip in the rubber bellows piece).

What led me through troubleshooting this problem was a post I ran across on another forum.  If anyone else is having this A/C problem, PM me and I'll provide that information to you.
