Post Door Noise Problem on S500 Coupe 1997

I opened my car door on the driver's side and I noticed a loud clicking noises, during opening and closing.  I'm not sure what this could be, maybe the door limiter?  The door opens and closes fine, and it seems stable, no jiggling.  The closing assist also works fine.  If you have any ideas, let me know.

Thanks.

I think its the door stopper that is making the noise, try to replace it.

Change soon, there have been issues where it breaks and then contacts the skin of the door resulting in a dent!

Post Door Noise Problem

I have owned several MBZ's and have had this problem with all of them. There is a strap system that is mounted on the inside surface of the door with two bolts. Over time the sheet metal assembly flexes thousands of times causing weakness around the bolt areas. It sill soon gives way completely when the sheet metal breaks away. There is an easy fix. You can buy the replacement part for around $20.00 at the MB dealer. Pull the inside door panel off, peel back the plastic covering from the sheet metal, locate the two bolts holding the strap assembly in place, remove them, replace the strap assembly, and finally put the inside door panel back together. It takes about an hour. I recommend using (removable) loctite on the bolts going into the new assembly. This will make it as good as new.
