Garage Cabinets, Garage Storage, and Garage Organization

I have an 04 SLK500, when i start the car on a warm engine I have to crank it twice. I have tried leaving my foot off the pedal and every combination of foot on the pedal I think of whilst starting but I still have to crank it twice. When it's cold it's great, starts first time. Do I have a minor snag here? Am I starting it incorrectly? does anybody else have this problem?

no need to touch any pedals. also starts first time when cold, only problem is blue smoke.

i had this problem before and crankshaft postion sensor is the culprit. quite common though. have it checked.

more likely is that the starter is old and worn, and although it's drinking current at a rate that will flatten the battery in no time, it is still struggling to do anything against the drag from those  pistons.
