Post Engine warning light 

I have a 02 SL55, bought it new...........I am a little concerned that the engine warining light comes on now and again (after the car has been driven for a awhile)........I don't experience any problems, no engine noise, no oil loss, no coolant loss, and no power loss. I have stopped once or twice and given the cables a wiggle and the problem goes away for a couple of weeks. Any thoughts?

firstly, when the check engine light comes on, it is mostly emission related.

you CEL would appear if the ECU detected abnormal mixture formation. it could be ignition system, exhaust, air intake. in your case it could be the MAF, O2 sensors as the common thing. also, this irritating light can be reset sometimes temporarily or sometimes permanently by disconnecting the battery for 3-5 minutes.
