Post Fuel System

I had an error message pop up in the window "Fuel System open- Ceck gas cap". Occurred three times. Bought a new gas cap and the message still pops up. Anyone know whats going on? (2001 S430)

what you've done is the last time you've filled the car with gas you might have let the engine runing or you might have not closed the gas cap in tight position, so what had happened air has gotten in the system so in this case the sensor has detected this, nothing to worry about, what you do is try to unplug the negative battery cable for at least 10 minutes and plug it back on, ( before you do this make sure you have teh radio code ready _ i dont know if the new s class W220 have them but my 93 W 140 has it as well as some of the members in the forum here that own them..) )

good luck
