Post HELP NEEDED REGARDING GEAR BOX!

Hello everybody!
first i would like to wish u all a happy new year!
im an ML-230 owner (its a 2300CC car) its a 1998 model... and its also a manual car, because there weren't any ML-230's manufactured with an automatic gear box.. (careful now, dont get all mad at me, i said 230, not 320!) anyways, it started a month ago:
my car has 5 gears, the past month , ive been getting weird resposes from my car at 1st and 2nd gear!
they both keep going back to neutral! 3d gear works perfectly and so does 4th and 5th, but wen ur at first, u get the first head start but then it goes back to neutral, a slightly different thing happens with the 2nd gear... when 2nd gear is in place the car works perfectly until u get to a slower speed... and BooM suddenly ur back at neutral! Sad
please help me with this
the company here told me i need to pay around 3000$ and i dont belive that this is a reasonable ammount for such a thing!
please help
thank you all

a transmission that jumps out of gear really needs thorough troubleshooting. some common causes is incorrect clutch-linkage adjustments, broken or weak pressure springs, worn or warped friction disc or could just be a incorrect adjustment of shift levers. goodluck.
