Garage Cabinets, Garage Storage, and Garage Organization

Hello Everyone. I am hoping someone will be able to tell me what my problem is and how to fix it.  I have a beautiful 4matic (not many made) G reg estate which drives like a dream (until a couple of years ago). A problem started which went like this: started up, drove for maybe 10 minutes, engine cut out. If I then left it for about 30 mins - 1 hour it would start up again, drive for 10 minutes and then cut out again.
I did take it into my local Merc dealer who failed to identify the problem (after a whopping £300 bill). I thought (and still think) it is a fuel problem (it's like the fuel stops getting through). I have now replaced the distributor cap, points, etc etc but not the fuel pump etc.

So ... I thought before I invest any more money in the problem I would ask if anyone has come across this problem and if so what the answer was.

Any ideas??

same with you, I suspect the fuel pump...but i'm not sure about this problem because i'm not familiar with this car.
