Post Mercedes C220 - Problem with injeciton system

Hey all,

I am a new user. I wonder if anyone of you can help me. I own a Mercedes C220, 1995 model, 4 cylinder. Now after all these years I am having a serious problem, which probably has to do with the injection system.

While driving along at various speeds the EDC switch (Diesel Indicator Lamp), comes on while the engine is running, this indicates that a malfunction is present in the injection system. The fuel engine output is no longer available, and the engine becomes very noisy. When this happens I turn off the ignition and wait a few seconds and start it again. Then the engine goes back to normal and runs perfectly, the EDC switch goes out also. Other times I have to switch off the engine many times (say about 5) before the EDC switch goes out.

Til now I have checked the injectors. The fuel from the tank to the filter by the pump is clear and no bubbles are visible. The full filter and the short fuel pipe that goes from the fuel filter housing to the fuel pump, including the washers have been replaced by new parts. Also an additive has been added to a full tank of fuel in order to evaporate any water that may have entered in the system.

I don't no what else can be done. Can anyone help me please?
