Post my slk is jerking...

My SLK is jerking since about 2k miles ago. First it only did it when engine was hot (running at night, for example, it didn't happen. One weekend I did a relatively long trip (about 60 miles, it's impossible to do much more where I live unless you just want to waste gas going on circles) and it stopped jerking for about a week. Then it started again but now it's always. It's only when I throttle. Any idea of what could it be?

Thx for help.

Try checking the air intake for a start.

what exactly do you mean by 'jerking'? if you are talking about the engine jerking it may be a miss-fire due to a plug or leads breaking down, need more details...

Hey, like masterpiece said, replace the ignition wires/plugs. Maybe it's the catalytic converter... Friend of mine had it once, there are several layers inside a cat. and one was broken which results in lack of power.

Good luck!

just to add up information, it could be your O2 sensors before TWC or your purge control valve is constantly open this could cause poor throttle response of engine after operating temperature has been reached. regarding the jerking(misfires) you're experiencing could be a cause of faulty fuel pump, MAF sensor, exhaust back pressure too high, crankshaft position sensor, etc. i suggest you test the fuel delivery first. also, have a visual check on your fuel filter. then the MAF. if its possible for you to read the fault code would be way much better. in this case you would go directly on whats wrong with your engine and not just by hanging parts on it. goodluck

Is this the AMG version with the supercharger?

The reason why I ask if it is the AMG version with supercharger is because you have a coolant loop for the intercooler charge.  The system has a 5 amp fuse that runs the curculation pump.  If the fuse blows, your intake charge will be too hot.  The engine senses knock or the software senses the coolant charge at too high a temperature.  When this happens, the software saves the engine from damage by cutting the throttle and/or fuel.  This causes the engine to buck.

How do I know?  Mine has done it.  The simple solution is a new fuse.  Based on the size of the wiring for the circulation motor, I have to wonder if the fuse is slightly undersized.  The motor takes about 3 amps to run.
