Post Oil in the Driver's Footwell of a 78 450SLC

Hello,
My father has a 78 450SLC that he's had for a few years and has been mostly in storage during this time. He has recently asked me to prepare it to be sold. I have brought the car home and started looking through it to see what type of work needs to be done to it. I noticed there is something that looks, feels, and smells like motor oil in the driver's side footwell area. What would cause this and how can I correct? My plan is basically repair what I can in this vehicle and provide a list to the new owner of what needs to be done (beyond my skill set or time/money I want to invest in this).

Thanks,
Sari
