over heat

Post over heat 

just recently my car started getting hot around 75-85mph. When I first get on the interstate it will heat up really quick then go back down to normal but at night when it does this I noticed the head lights flickering. It is electric or do I just need to replace the thermostat. If so where is it.

two things you need to check. thermostat and the belt which drives the coolant pump, alternator, power steering, etc.

what year and model is your car?

You need to ensure that you are not losing water, check that your fans are coming on at normal operation temp. If the thermostat is bad the lower hose will heat up sightly or you may hear a bubbling sound, or the top hose will be very hot & hard.
