Post SL R129 HYDRAULIC LEAKS

hi  im looking for a source  for roof hydraulic cylinder repair kits .the nearest i got was from a guy who repairs them in the USA . Rather on the expensive side . i will share any info  i get as thats the way it should be. i have already stripped down one, of the top of screen cylinders and effected a temp repair  with an adapted brake cylinder seal .but would like a more permanant answer .If anyone has any info ie cyl/system manufacturer. part nos etc .would be v interested . i am going to be  looking round car shortly to get manufacturers names etc,and will post as and when .this is going to be a larger as larger issue as these old girls get older, will even consider having kits manufactured as i have a contact in the hydraulic industry .
thanks for looking

Please feel free to contact Dennis Ficken. He rebuilds cylinders for a modest price of $30.00 each plus ship and warranty.

Post re dennis fickens

hi  yes i am aware of this facility ,but i would like to do it myself i am a 30yr experienced tech,  i  contacted him a while ago  but he was unwilling to supply the seals to do  it .  i  realise that an unexperienced person could have problems  ,but as i  know seals are usually pennies and the distance i  would have to send all of my cylinders _( i  live in spain !) ,i  feel  the best way to proceed is to have seals delivered to me  . i am still looking into source for seals. i did a temp repair with an adapted seal to the  one i have leaking(it took me 20 mins to remove and  refit )so  its not urgent at  moment.thanks anyway fro reply,

I wish you luck as many have gone before you in the same quest. As you know there are 10 cylinders that control the top and they can range anywhere from $150.00-$700.00 MSRP US new. I really don't find $30.00/cylinder repair to be to expensive. But again, I wish you luck and please keep us posted on your sucess as well as your findings.
