 Starting problem
Hi All
I am new to the forum I hope somebody can help, maybe it has happened to a member or it may be a common fault.
The problem is this car has had £750 spent on it trying to get to the bottom of this it has had a new starter motor, new K54 relay what ever that is,new earths to chassis when it was picked up from the garage it was ok but after about 250 miles it came back and that is,when I took it back to the garage they said they don,t know what is causing it.
When I turn the key all I get is a loud clicking noise and thats it,starter motor is not turning over just the clicking noise,I am posting this in case somebody has had this problem and knows what is causing it or maybe it is a common fault.
The car ia a 1999 C200 Espirit (W202) 1998cc saloon Manual.
Fingers crossed
Norman

 Starting Problem
Hi Guys
Can anybody tell me where my immobiliser unit is located in my 1999 C200 Esprit,I had an auto mechanic check the car out and I am getting an immobiliser code fault coming up and he said remove it and check for dry joints etc. before I let the main stealers rip me off.
I have the Haynes w/shop manual but it only shows the infrared unit is that the same thing.
Thanks
Norman

 Starting Problem
Hi there mercedesbenzone
When the guy came round and did the check he said he did not have the proper software but it was coming up as an immobiliser fault but he did not tell me the code.
He then phoned the garage he works for and they said the immobiliser faults are usualy main dealer repairs because of the security issue and the main dealer is the only one with the equipment for repairing them.
Do you know if I could have a non mercedes alarm and immobiliser fitted to replace the mercedes one because I have been told that the mercedes ones had a problem and they are expensive to repair.
I know that this is going to be an expensive repair but at least if I have a non mercedes one fitted I won,t have to go through the main dealer as I live in the country 28 miles away from them and as the car is at the moment it would have to be towed into them.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my problem

 Starting Problem
Hi mercedesbenzone
Sorry as I said he did not have the proper software it just came up immobiliser fault with no fault code,he said these Mercs have got lots of different software and that is all he could say.
The pictures you sent I have had all that out which I thought was the ignition switch because at one time I was told it was the ignition switch that was faulty so I bought another one.
Thanks for your help

 Starting Problem
Hi mercedesbenzone
You seem to know your stuff do you think this sounds correct,I made some enqires on the net and a compony in Kings Lynne in Norfolk said my problem will be the overvoltage protection relay is causing the clicking and non starting.
What do you think.

 C200 1999 ESPRIT
Hi
Does anybody know what controls the the switches on the consul for windows, electric mirrors, open boot lid,and air bag led.
I have checked all the fuses and they are all ok I am thinking it is probably a relay but at the moment nothing works.
I have the Haynes workshop manual but that is as much use as an ice cream stall for eskimos.
Thanks
Norman
